Macrotek Selected for Two Acid Scrubber Contracts

Macrotek Inc. has announced receipt of two major contracts for a hazardous waste treatment service provider in Central Canada. Macrotek will design, engineer, and deliver two counter-current packed bed scrubbers for the removal of acids from process gas. Acids being removed include HCl, Cl2, and HCN.

Macrotek’s Packed Bed Scrubbers will be designed with a wide range of flexibility. Required removal efficiencies will be achieved by adjusting and maintaining reagent addition or re-cycle flow.

Macrotek has extensive experience with similar projects and expects its systems will exceed the required removal efficiencies.

The Macrotek Packed Bed Scrubber utilizes a vertical counter-current design for high efficient absorption of gases. In the vertical counter-current design, gas flows upward while scrubbing liquid flows down through banks of sprays.

The scrubbers will include a random packing section where the absorption of gases occurs. The scrubbing liquid is introduced in a liquid spray distribution system which is located above the packing section.

A high efficiency mist eliminator removes entrained liquids. This is an essential step in the overall performance of the scrubber systems.

The project is currently in the design phase with delivery expected in May 2017.
