Macrotek Provides Scrubber System to Repeat Global Chemical Customer

Air pollution control solutions provider, Macrotek Inc. has engineered and supplied a complete customized system for its repeat customer, a major global chemical producer.

The chemical producer is currently undergoing a major expansion in the midwestern United States.

Flue gas containing lethal concentration of H2S required treatment to single digit outlet prior to venting into the atmosphere. The conventional approach to treat H2S is a scavenger, caustic, or regenerative treatment. The composition of the flue gas was more than 90% CO2, which made a chemical scrubber challenging as the CO2 reacts with, and depletes the caustic.

The customer had significant continual supply of a waste alkaline stream, which would result in operating cost savings and approached Macrotek to design a chemical scrubber using the waste stream. The system is similar to the one Macrotek supplied to the company a decade ago, which is still performing optimally.

The system was fabricated and shipped in November 2021.
